Unison's new EBU for the LEAP-1A engine for A320neo

Unison Industries has a newly designed Engine Build-Up (EBU) for the LEAP–1A engine application on the A320neo. The new EBU contains 300 unique tubes, brackets, harnesses and sensors which connect all the major engine systems to the aircraft. This program represents the eighth EBU program designed and developed by Unison, spanning a broad range of Air Transport Association chapters.

In addition to the new design, Unison will introduce composite brackets for the first time. This technology will ensure all airline customers purchasing the A320neo benefit from the reduced weight of the support structure for their main fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. With these new options our customers will be able to take advantage of more technology with less overall cost.

“Unison's extensive engine build-up design capabilities allow the business to take a systems approach to achieve cost and weight reductions not often seen in traditional engine or airframe EBU development programs,” said Keith Campbell, general manager of the Unison Mechanical Systems product line. “The additional benefit of total logistics management provides further savings to customers and facilitates kitting for point-of-use delivery, resulting in reduced handling and flow times.”
