Viatran achieves AS9100D certification of their Quality Management System

11/04/2019

Press releaseIssued by Viatran Corporation.

Viatran, a Tonawanda based business that provides advanced design and manufacturing of pressure transducers and transmitters, announced today that its Quality Management System was certified to the AS9100 Rev D standard. Earning this certification signifies Viatran's ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding increasingly stringent industry requirements for aerospace related products for both the civil and military markets.

The AS9100D standard supplements the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2015) requirements with conditions needed for work with the United States Department of Defense (DoD), NASA and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

AS9100D certification, which is recognized internationally as the Quality Management System standard for manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to the aviation, space and defense industries, is supported by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) and based upon a standard published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for the design, manufacture, production, assembly and test of aerospace-related products. Achieving AS9100D certification means Viatran has proven their quality processes and continuous improvement methodologies meet the highest industry standards.

Viatran partnered with DNV-GL, an accredited quality and environmental management systems certification body, to achieve this certification. "We followed a rigorous process whereby the team at Viatran adjusted business practices and procedures to meet or exceed the standards provided under the AS9100 guidelines. The result was that we were certified to the AS9100D standard with zero findings. Zero findings are an extremely rare instance and a testament to our processes, teamwork and commitment to continuous improvement." noted Joel Neri, Viatran's Quality Manager.

Kevin Cornacchio, Viatran's President said of the certification, "We are very excited with this certification. While we have always held ourselves to exceptionally high standards, this certification will allow us to take our service to the aerospace industry to a new level".
