Volvo Aero and GE sign MoU on F414

Volvo Aero and General Electric have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding strategic cooperation on the F414 engine. The MoU is intended for a possible sale of Gripen Next Generation Aircraft to Norway. GE Aviation (GE), a business component of General Electric Company, and Volvo Aero Corporation have a long-term strategic relationship in connection with GE's F414 engine. Volvo Aero is a risk and revenue sharing partner in the F414 program and manufactures a number of components for the engine.

Now, an MOU has been signed among Volvo Aero Corporation, Volvo Aero Norge AS, a majority owned subsidiary of Volvo Aero Corporation, and GE solidifying collaboration to find opportunities for Norwegian industry in fulfillment of potential offset and industrial cooperation obligations accepted by Gripen International (Gripen). Gripen markets and produces the Gripen Next Generation Aircraft powered by a derivative of the F414 engine designated the F414G.

Volvo Aero Corporation has significant presence in Sweden and Norway with many possibilities for offset proposals within technology, development, production and product support in connection with the potential procurement of the Gripen Next Generation Aircraft by the Norwegian Government.
