Zodiac Aerospace and Hexcel present L3

07/04/2014

Press releaseIssued by Hexcel Composites.

Zodiac Aerospace, world leader in aircraft seating, teamed with Hexcel, world leader in aerospace carbon fiber composite materials, to develop L3 - Living Space, Lightweight, Leadtime.

The first seats will be presented to airlines during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg.

The L3 is a revolutionary passenger seat dedicated for medium/short haul flights, offering a good living space to passengers and to airlines a higher density and a lighter weight, below 4 kg per passenger. The manufacturing process of the seat, resulting from cooperation between Zodiac Seats and Hexcel will ensure a quick manufacturing and delivery time compared to current seats.

The L3 is an all-composite seat, manufactured from Hexcel's HexPly® carbon fiber prepregs which provide light weight, mechanical resistance and an aesthetic appearance. The armrests and tray tables are manufactured from Hexcel's HexMC® compression molding process, providing a unique look and strong resistance.

The certification process is progressing as per our plan in our development tests process.
