Early customer pickups have started in Oshkosh, while upgrades to the prototype aircraft continue amid weather delays.

Sonex has started shipments of Tail Kits for its Highwing aircraft, with customer pickups beginning in Oshkosh on January 22nd. The company reports that pre-bent laser-cut parts, inkjet-labelled components, and efficient packaging have impressed early recipients.

Production of Fuselage Kits and assembly of Quick Build Kits is expected to begin soon, and Sonex is encouraging existing and new Tail Kit customers to place orders now. Reservation holders may wait until flight testing concludes if preferred.

Snow has delayed further test flights, but the prototype aircraft has been upgraded with 30-gallon wing tanks, a cabin heat box, a thicker windshield, corrected landing gear legs, and ball bearing aileron bellcranks for smoother control response. Aerobatic door release systems have also been installed.

Sonex has updated its kit pricing: the complete airframe kit is $39,000, while the quick build version is $55,000. A new Highwing T-shirt is now available in multiple colours and sizes through the Sonex Web Store.
