Cirrus TRAC10 trainer gains dual touchscreen flight deck

Twin 11.6‑inch touchscreen displays and Garmin AXIS avionics have been fitted to the TRAC10's three‑seat cockpit, enabling two students to train together.

Cirrus has fitted its purpose-built TRAC10 trainer with the Perspective Core flight deck, built on Garmin AXIS avionics. The system is designed to give instructors and student pilots an integrated, flexible interface across the aircraft's training missions.

The flight deck comes with dual 11.6" touch displays as standard, each configurable as a primary flight display or multi-function display, with the Engine Indication System always visible. Pilots can switch between full-screen and split-screen layouts, with access to 3D SafeTaxi, Runway Occupancy Awareness, Enhanced Synthetic Vision Technology and pathway guidance for route visualisation. Safety features include the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System, Electronic Stability Protection, the Blue Level Button and a dedicated emergency button on the display bezel, alongside an optional SurfaceWatch runway monitoring system.

The TRAC10's three-seat configuration allows two students to train simultaneously, with an optional third display at the rear observer station supporting additional observational learning.

Zean Nielsen, chief executive officer of Cirrus, says: “We intentionally selected the Perspective Core flight deck for the TRAC10 to build student pilot skills for their professional careers. The intuitive flight deck sharpens pilot situational awareness with integrated systems that help pilots build the right skills.”

Power comes from a turbocharged Rotax 916 iSc engine rated at 160 horsepower, with FADEC controls and single-lever power management reducing pilot workload. Fuel burn is as low as 5.9 gallons per hour at 65% cruise power, and the engine supports 100LL AvGas, unleaded 91/94 and select Mogas blends. Cirrus IQ provides wireless fleet data transmission and automatic database updates for operators.

The TRAC10 will be manufactured at Cirrus headquarters in Duluth, Minnesota, with US deliveries beginning in 2027 and international deliveries from 2028. Cirrus has secured over 100 TRAC10 orders from 13 professional flight schools worldwide. The aircraft starts at $499,900.

Aircraft programs
