B23 Energic slips under radar in Centennial Airport noise test

H55’s electric aircraft flew below ambient thresholds at three of six monitoring points during flights alongside a piston-engine comparison aircraft.

H55’s electric B23 Energic aircraft proved almost inaudible in a Centennial Airport noise test on 11 July, flying routes alongside a piston-engine equivalent across six official monitoring stations.

Three of the six monitors did not register any aircraft noise, with the B23 flying below the ambient threshold of 60 decibels. The remaining three recorded the electric aircraft at just one-tenth the intensity of the piston aircraft.

“Electric aviation isn’t the future, it’s here,” says Michael Fronapfel, CEO of Centennial Airport. “The B23 Energic offers noise levels so low, they’re almost too quiet to track. This has real-world implications for airport communities. It’s a level of performance we’ve never seen before in general aviation.”

“Across multiple flights, the B23 Energic consistently came in 30 times quieter than similar aircraft during cruise,” adds Zach Gabehart, Centennial Airport’s noise and environmental specialist. “If this keeps up, I might be out of a job.”
