The partnership will establish a manufacturing facility to scale up production of pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
EHang Holdings has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with JAC Motors and Guoxian Holdings to establish a joint venture in Hefei focused on eVTOL manufacturing. The project will integrate advanced technology, automation and standardisation to accelerate production and commercialisation of pilotless eVTOL aircraft.
Key officials at the signing ceremony included Hefei Vice Mayor Fei Yuan, JAC Motors chairman Xingchu Xiang and EHang CEO Huazhi Hu. The agreement covers R&D, manufacturing and sales, aligning Hefei’s new energy vehicle sector with low-altitude aviation.
Under the agreement, the three companies will cooperate on R&D, manufacturing and sales of eVTOL aircraft. The project also will standardise key aircraft components, establish unified industry standards and support industrial cluster development to accelerate eVTOL commercialisation.
More specifically, JAC Motors will contribute its expertise in automobile manufacturing, including advanced production lines and supply chain management, to scale and automate eVTOL production. EHang will provide its R&D, production technologies and airworthiness certification experience. Guoxian Holdings will offer policy support and drive resource integration to create a favourable business environment.
The collaboration builds on EHang’s existing agreement with the Hefei municipal government, which has already led to the creation of two Urban Air Mobility eVTOL operation centres. Vice Mayor Fei Yuan says Hefei aims to become a leader in eVTOL supply chain development and standardisation.
JAC Motors’ Xingchu Xiang anticipates mass production of eVTOLs in Hefei, while EHang’s Huazhi Hu sees the partnership as a step towards a future three-dimensional transportation network.
