Embraer puts the E175-E2 on ice for three years

Despite making its first flight in 2019, the E175-E2 will not now enter commercial service until at least 2027. Embraer cites the success of the current E175 as one of the factors in the decision to delay.

Embraer has taken the decision to pause its E175-E2 jet development program for three years.

In a statement to shareholders it says: "As in previous years, the re-programing of activities is associated with the ongoing US mainline scope clause discussions with the pilot unions regarding the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) limitation for aircraft with up to 76 seats, together with current global market conditions for commercial aviation and the continuing interest in the current E175 jet in the US market."

The company expects to resume the program's development activities at the end of the three year period, which will result in a re-scheduling of its entry into service between 2027 and 2028.
