Gulfstream earns FAA and EASA certification for G800 after performance upgrade

Final certifications have confirmed longer range and higher cruise speeds, along with shorter take-off and landing distances than expected.

Gulfstream’s ultralong range G800 has received type certification from both the FAA and EASA, confirming performance capabilities beyond original projections. The aircraft’s maximum range at long range cruise has risen to 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85, while high-speed cruise range reaches 7,000 nm at Mach 0.90. The maximum operating speed has also increased from Mach 0.925 to Mach 0.935.

Take-off and landing distances were also shorter than expected, with a certified take-off distance of 5,812 ft and landing distance of 3,105 ft, enhancing access to more airports.

“The G800 marks the latest evolution of business aviation as we continue to build the next-generation fleet and bring industry-leading performance and efficiency to the market,” says Gulfstream president Mark Burns.

The G800 includes a low cabin altitude of 2,840 ft when cruising at 41,000 ft, 100% fresh air, a plasma ionisation purification system and 16 panoramic oval windows. It can be fitted with up to four living areas or three plus a dedicated crew space.

Performance is supported by Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines paired with Gulfstream’s own wing design.

Burns adds: “We have been preparing for this accomplishment and are poised for a seamless G800 entry into service as U.S. and European customer deliveries begin.”
