Sikorsky and SKYTRAC introduce real time HUMS for S-92 fleet

SKYTRAC’s Certus connectivity and Sikorsky’s monitoring systems were brought together to deliver exceedance detection, real-time alerts and automatic post-flight data transfer.

Sikorsky and SKYTRAC Systems have developed a real time health and usage monitoring system (HUMS) upgrade for the S-92. The solution integrates SKYTRAC’s Iridium Certus connectivity with Sikorsky’s HUMS to enable exceedance detection and in-flight alerts, with automated downloads of flight and usage data after landing.

SKYTRAC says the system enhances operational readiness while supporting compliance with IOGP 690 standards. “With the power of SKYTRAC’s connectivity avionics, S-92 operators will be equipped with next-generation HUMS and FDM capabilities,” says SKYTRAC’s director of business development Jeff Sherwood. “Not only does this real time HUMS solution improve safety and operational efficiency but it also satisfies IOGP 690 standards while remaining reliable, global and affordable.”

Sikorsky’s vice president of global commercial and military systems Leon Silva adds: “We are thrilled to support this next-generation HUMS connectivity solution for both new and existing S-92 operators. Real time HUMS data will help operators respond before the aircraft lands. The system enables autonomous offload of HUMS and flight data via Wi-Fi, cellular or Certus networks, depending on availability. The factory fit version will be available on new aircraft orders, while retrofit kits and STCs will be offered directly from SKYTRAC.
