The Japanese eVTOL manufacturer will work with the French propeller specialist on flight-critical rotors for its SD-05, accelerating testing progress and supporting certification efforts.
SkyDrive is working with DUC Helices Propellers to develop rotors for its SkyDrive Model SD-05 eVTOL. DUC Helices specialises in high-performance carbon composite propellers and rotors for aeroplanes, helicopters and multicopters. Its products are recognised worldwide, with certifications from EASA, FAA and other authorities.
The SD-05 aircraft uses 12 motors and three-bladed rotors. These components generate lift and thrust, enabling control through individual rotor speed adjustments. The distributed propulsion system also reduces noise, increases redundancy and supports overall safety.
Arnaud Coville, chief development officer at SkyDrive, says: “I am very pleased to be working with DUC Helices to develop and manufacture rotors for the SkyDrive SD-05. DUC Helices has already proven to be incredibly agile; leveraging their in-house expertise and partner capabilities, they delivered initial products within four months. These products have achieved strong performance on our test rigs, marking a significant milestone in advancing our aircraft development toward type certification.”
