5 February Rotor with actively twisting blades in the wind tunnel.

DLR tests active rotor twisting to cut helicopter noise and vibration

Wind tunnel trials under the STAR project showed measurable noise and vibration reductions while improving rotor efficiency under high-load conditions.

25 January 2024 The trials are at ONERA’s wind tunnel facility in Modane, France.

Open Fan starts 200 hours in the wind tunnel

The Open Fan aims to reduce fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 20%, and up to 80% when combined with SAFs or sustainable aviation fuels, for the next generation of single-aisle commercial jets by 2035.
