The designation reflects fighter and uncrewed status, while recent flights demonstrated mission autonomy software in four-hour test operations.

19 February The achievement forms part of an accelerated YFQ-42A development schedule that began in August 2025 and has already included multiple aircraft builds and autonomous take-offs and landings.

Collins sensor selected for the Airbus EFVS system

Mounted on the nose of the aircraft, the EFVS sensor uses multiple infrared and visible light cameras to "see through" poor visibility conditions better than the human eye, rendering the result on head-up displays.

NASA's quiet supersonic research aircraft could fly in 2022

Innovative features on top of the X-59 wing should re-shape the shock wave pattern, substantially reducing the sonic boom to more of a sonic "thump" when it reaches the ground. Collins is onboard for the avionics.
