Airborne and LM expand partnership with smart automation initiative

A contract under the Industrial Participation Program will support Airborne in evolving its automation technology to meet Lockheed Martin’s aerospace production goals.

15 February 2024 The user can easily upload new kits and nest files, including a mix of parts, and the system will adapt all the instructions for the operator automatically.

Airborne streamlines composite kitting for Airbus Helicopters

The software takes the nest, kit and material input, and translates this into instructions for the operator to offload the cutter, to make kits with plies in the correct sequence and to store them in the dynamic buffer.

29 June 2023 The system will transform broad goods such as woven or NCF materials into 3D preforms suitable for RTM.

GKN orders preforming line for faster composites

The system will integrate an Automated Ply Placement (APP) cell by Airborne, Automated Preform Trimming by Accudyne Systems, a ply cutter from Assyst Bullmer, and a Hot Drape Former by PAC Group.
