AMRC and Dassault Systemes refresh 10 year partnership

The partners have developed a new approach to the Factory of the Future, including the DELMIA Factory of the Future Showcase at AMRC Cymru in North Wales and the Airbus DAWN and Smarter Test Programmes.

Composites experts plan sensors for component monitoring

The sensors are based on magnetic materials and amorphous ferromagnetic microwires capable of reacting to electromagnetic radiation and will yield valuable information on the condition of the part at any time.

Airbus ramps up development of new wing technologies

Wing of Tomorrow has reached a key milestone with the assembly of its first full-size wing prototype, while Airbus has also announced an extra-performing wing demonstrator project based on a Citation VII airframe.

21 April 2021 Martin Wood, Weaving Director at Antich and Sons, pictured with one of the single rapier weaving looms used to create 3D woven multilayer textiles. Martin is arguably one of the most experienced weaving experts in the country having spent his entire career working on the technical side of weaving.

Project results in composite yarn-spinning technique

Antich and Sons' latest capability is the culmination of a three-year project which focused on creating stabilised, near-net shape preforms of variable thickness. These preforms will allow for efficient use of material.
