Quarterhorse Mk1 nears flight readiness at Edwards

The next iteration of Quarterhorse, Mk 2, is actively being built in Hermeus’ Atlanta factory. This aircraft features a much larger engine, the Pratt & Whitney F100, and will fly at supersonic speeds.

Hermeus breaks ground on hypersonic test facility in Jacksonville

The HEAT facility will provide continuous high flow rate, high enthalpy and low-pressure conditions required for high-supersonic and low-hypersonic flight modelling.

15 May The testing marks the first major engine milestone for Hermeus’ supersonic Quarterhorse Mk 2 aircraft.

Hermeus begins precooler testing with P&W F100 engine

The precooler increases the max speed of the turbine engine by lowering the temperature of incoming air. It is intended for Hermeus' Quarterhorse Mk 2 aircraft.

3 April The coming months will see the vehicle endure a battery of tests across its subsystems, ground station, operations, and human factors to prepare it for flight test later this year.

Hermeus unveils the Quarterhorse Mk 1

Designed, built and integrated in just seven months, this is the company's second fully-integrated vehicle in the past year, following Quarterhorse Mk 0 which completed its test campaign in November 2023.

Chimera II is a hypersonic turbine-based combined cycle engine - a hybrid between a turbine engine and a ramjet. This allows for both low-speed and high-speed operation.

Hermeus invests in Sapphires for metal additive production

The Velo3D printers, both of which will be calibrated for Inconel 718, will be used to build parts for Hermeus' Chimera engine and Quarterhorse aircraft.

Hermeus secures factory for Mach 5 aircraft manufacture

A large facility in Atlanta will allow Hermeus to manufacture in an urban environment, while being just a few miles from Dekalb-Peachtree airport. It will house assembly, manufacturing and testing operations.
