19 January In partnership with DLR and DFS, Rohde & Schwarz built LDACS demonstrator devices and carried out flight tests with a DLR test aircraft.

Developer targets 2028 for market launch of LDACS

Rohde and Schwarz will be able to supply equipment for ground stations and be well-positioned to offer solutions to aircraft manufacturers, integrators and their customers for use on board aircraft.

12 January A flight test of this industrialised prototype is planned in 2025 on an aircraft.

Airbus and VDL Group combine to develop laser comms

Laser communication brings 1,000 times more data, 10 times faster than the current network. Laser links also have the benefit of avoiding interference and detection.

L3Harris processor selected to crunch the Red Hawk's data

The processor technology is part of a digital, open-systems design that decreases maintenance and lifecycle costs while increasing reliability. The processors include extra payload slots to expand mission capabilities.
