Drive System Design is an engineering consultancy specialising in the engineering, development, test and control of electrified driveline systems. It has joined the team developing the InCEPTion propulsion module.

28 January Leonardo has lined up behind a consortium aiming to design, develop and manufacture an ultra-low mass, robust, proof-of-concept carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) wheel for rotary wing aircraft.

Leonardo backs consortium building CFRP helicopter wheel

A wheel made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic will offer enhanced mechanical properties at about half the density of metal wheels. It will be made with tailored fibre placement, braiding and out of autoclave processes.
