Amca acquires and invests in Cal-Draulics, an engineering-driven aerospace hydraulics supplier, to solve growing industry pains
Thursday, 28 August 2025

The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America (Amca) recently acquired Cal-Draulics, an engineering-focused supplier of high-precision hydraulic products for aerospace based in Corona, CA. Founded in 1950, Cal-Draulics has supplied nearly every major American aircraft program, from the F-4 and DC-3 to the 737, 787, and F-35. The company was previously owned and led by husband-wife duo Doug and Jeanette Johnson who built up the business's reputation industry-wide as an exceptionally high-quality supplier. Shedd Capital served as an advisor on the deal.

Alongside this acquisition, Amca is excited to welcome Doug Johnson, former owner of Cal-Draulics, as the newest member of its engineering team. Doug is a world-class engineer, whose experience will be invaluable as Amca rapidly expands Cal-Draulics' design capabilities and manufacturing capacity to help aerospace OEMs and airlines solve their growing hydraulic product pains.

"It's really exciting for me to join an engineering team dedicated to improving the aerospace industry and to have found a permanent home for Cal-Draulics led by a young team with such an ambitious mission," said Doug Johnson, President of Cal-Draulics.

Amca's engineering and capital resources will enable Cal-Draulics to take on significantly more work in the design, manufacturing, and testing of a wide range of products, from simple valves to complex actuators and larger assemblies.
