First time ever CTT Systems' cabin humidification system, Cair, is included in Lufthansa's new A380 aircraft.
Wednesday, 19 May 2010

For the first time ever the Cair system has been installed by an aircraft manufacturer and this in the first class cabins on Lufthansa's new A380 aircraft, the first of which is being delivered today to Lufthansa.

Lufthansa will in their new A380 first class offer a higher cabin humidity of around 25% relative humidity, which will increase the comfort and wellbeing of the passengers. It will improve sleep, reduce jetlag, reduce tiredness and alleviate dehydration of the eyes, skin and linings of the mouth and nose.

"This is an important day not only for CTT but also for airline passengers as we are confident that this is the beginning of a new era in premium class cabins. Dryness in aircraft cabins and the negative effects it causes to the human body is a known fact among airlines and frequent travelers. Finally there is a solution and we are proud that Lufthansa is the first airline offering this in its new A380 first class section," says Torbjörn Johansson, President of CTT Systems." We have been providing the Cair system to large VIP aircraft for several years and it has been so much appreciated that our system is now requested by almost every new VIP aircraft completion. With the introduction of Cair in Lufthansa's A380 and also being available as an option on the A350, we expect the airlines and its passengers to appreciate the benefits of the system in the same way as VIP aircraft customers do," continues Torbjörn Johansson.

The Cair™ system is based on evaporative cooling technology. The dual-purpose system increases cabin humidity to 20-25% relative humidity, compared to 5-10% otherwise in a first class environment due to the few number of passengers in the premium sections, for greater comfort and include the Zonal Drying System to counter condensation problems.

CTT's Zonal Drying System has been selected as basic equipment for the new B787 "Dreamliner" and CTT's humidifiers are options in crew rest compartments and on flight deck. The A380 offers CTT's humidifiers as option in crew rest compartments. CTT will also supply the Zonal Drying™ system and the Cair system for the A350 aircraft, as options. CTT is furthermore the market leader in supplying cabin humidification systems for large VIP aircraft.
