Midland Aerospace Ltd, part of the aerostructures business of Calder Group, is preparing for the production ramp-up of the Airbus A350-900 and -1000 jetliners' wing fixed trailing edge support packages, won under contract from a Major Tier 1 Customer. A three year LTA was signed earlier this year to provide more than 400 deliverable components, which incorporate complex machined parts and assemblies into the programme.

The A350 XWB wing fixed trailing edge package is the first of five LTAs to be awarded to Midland by new strategic customers in 2015. Four other packages, to be supplied to undisclosed customers, will be formally announced in due course. The Company has recently added new staff and commissioned two new 5-axis machine tools to accommodate the forecasted increase in production.

John Clegg, Sales and Marketing Director, added that this contract award from our customer signifies a step change in the supply partnership with them on the A350 programme and furthers Calder Group's continued expansion of Midland's capabilities. The new LTA contracts strengthen the company's position as a prime supplier to the Aerospace and Defence Tier 1s.

Supply chain activities for both of the A350 variant wing fixed trailing edge packages are well under way, with rate increase manufacturing in full scale production for delivery in 2016.
