Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that its Primus Apex® integrated avionics suite has received Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the new Viking Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.

"Viking's customers want a reliable system that is upgradeable, especially to the current safety technology like SmartViewTM synthetic vision," said John Todd, vice president, Business & General Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace. "High-resolution displays and fully automated controls help ensure aircraft safety and reduce pilot workload, while proven safety software like Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and Traffic Awareness and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) give the pilot added situational awareness."

Primus Apex is Honeywell's integrated avionics platform for customers that desire an industry standard solution that offers navigation and situational awareness capabilities similar to those offered in global business jets. Honeywell's Interactive Navigation (INAV®) graphical flight planning with detailed terrain and sensor overlays is standard on Primus Apex and provides unparalleled situational awareness with the ease of point and click navigation.

"The Viking Twin Otter is an extremely capable multi-mission aircraft," added Todd. "Primus Apex provides operators the mission flexibility, performance and safety they need to handle high latitude, float, cargo, and commuter operations."
