Adhetec's adhesive solutions for aircraft industry

07/07/2011

Press releaseIssued by Adhetec.

As a specialist of adhesive films for the aerospace industry, Adhetec's offer covers a wide range of applications, from masking and surface protection to markings and decoration.

Its new Adhetec 13880® range, result of three years' research, offers innovative and durable solutions that represent a genuine breakthrough in the field of markings and decals. It includes Adhemark 13880, a solution for technical markings and Adhecal 13880, for logos and graphics. These products, specially designed for the aerospace industry, are qualified according to AIMS04-16-002. They fit perfectly the customer's processes and offer durability equivalent to paint: no cracking, colour-fastness, perfect adhesion, easy to apply.

For aircraft production and maintenance, adhesive film technologies provide many potential techniques for improving processes, working and environmental conditions, efficiency and costs. ADHEMARK 13880® is a permanent and long-lasting marking solution, characterized by its transparent substrate, thinness, resistance to UV radiation and thermal shocks, and high degree of

compatibility with aerospace clearcoats. Easy to apply, it can be integrated into the most recent basecoat-clearcoat systems. The different components have chemical and mechanical affinities that ensure excellent cohesion of all the layers. Its unique characteristics allow markings to be encapsulated in the paint system. The high level of adherence between the clearcoat and the

marking guarantees a finish and durability never previously attained. If applied with edge sealant, the bond is perfectly cohesive and durable.

The product is compatible with surface finishing solvents. It can be affixed in a temperature range of 10 to 40°C. The application tape and the marker lines make it quick and easy to apply. The product can be clearcoated straight away. The H-SET surface treatment of Adhemark 13880® guarantees perfect adherence of the clearcoat and ensures optimal compatibility and wettability with all aeronautical clearcoats. For a few minutes after fitting, the product can be repositioned, and after 15 minutes, it can be removed without transfer of adhesive, even after clearcoating. A 6 years estimated durability with over-clearcoating allows the product to be applied on all parts of the aircraft, including the engine nacelles. It is resistant to water, hydraulic fluids, solvents, as well as kerosene and de-icing products.

Adhetec's international presence, production system and stock of products are adjusted so as to fully satisfy AOG requirements. Its expertise has thus successfully accompanied and acted as a catalyst for the performance of a large number of production and maintenance operation centres, paint and aircraft interior fittings workshops over many years, as can be seen from Adhetec's EN 9100 and AIRBUS BFE qualifications.
