Finishing encompasses the surface preparation, treatment and refinement processes applied to aerospace components to meet dimensional, cosmetic and functional specifications, including abrasive methods such as shot peening, lapping, honing, barrel finishing and blast finishing, chemical and electrochemical processes such as anodising, electropolishing, passivation and acid cleaning, and mechanical surface enhancement techniques such as burnishing, polishing and paint or metal stripping.
