CAMINUS (formerly EnPower), a U.S. manufacturer of lithium-ion battery cells and electrodes, today announced a contract manufacturing agreement with Amprius Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: AMPX), a developer and manufacturer of silicon-anode lithium-ion batteries. Under the agreement, CAMINUS will manufacture Amprius-designed pouch cells at its Indianapolis facility, adding domestic production capacity for Amprius customers in aviation, defence, and uncrewed systems.
The agreement spans the cell production process, from partial assembly of Amprius-supplied components to full cell production, allowing various cell formats to be produced in a staged manner that fits each format's volume and qualification status. The structure supports Amprius's contract manufacturing strategy, which enables rapid capacity expansion with minimal capital investment. Qualification builds are already in progress, and volume production is planned for 1Q27.
"Manufacturing execution is a critical bottleneck in Western supply chains and is increasingly a differentiating right to win," said Adrian Yao, founder and CEO of CAMINUS. "This agreement highlights the productive synergies within our domestic battery ecosystem: Advanced product designs combined with established manufacturing capabilities enables unprecedented speed to market for domestically designed and produced cells. We are happy to provide near-immediate capacity for companies like Amprius."
"Building a resilient, NDAA-compliant supply chain is central to how Amprius serves its defence customers," said Ronnie Tao, Chief Business Officer at Amprius Technologies. "CAMINUS shares our commitment to American manufacturing, and its pouch cell expertise fits our needs very well. Together, we're strengthening the domestic battery base that mission-critical systems depend on."
CAMINUS operates a 92,000-square-foot (and expanding), vertically integrated powder-to-cell facility in Indianapolis, with end-to-end production capabilities spanning slurry mixing, high-quality electrode coating, automated cell assembly, and formation. This rare domestic capability supports an NDAA Section 842-conforming supply chain for defence and uncrewed systems. Contract manufacturing is one of CAMINUS's two lines of business, alongside manufacturing of its own cell and pack products.
