Crane to provide Fuel Flow Transmitters on new GE Aviation engines

Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), has been selected by GE Aviation to provide the Fuel Flow Transmitters for GE Aviation's LEAP-X and Passport 20 engines. Crane's fuel flow transmitters measure fuel flow rate in mass, not volume, for exceptionally high accuracy.

GE Aviation's LEAP-X engines are designed for single-aisle aircraft, including the COMAC C919 and Airbus A320neo. The GE Passport 20 engine will be used on business aircraft such as the Bombardier Global 7000/888. Entry into service is planned in 2014.

"We expect this to be one of the largest Fuel Flow Transmitter programs in our history," said John J. Higgs, Vice President of Fluid Management Systems for Crane Aerospace & Electronics. "We are very proud to be a part of these new and highly efficient engines."

With over 25,000 units in service, Crane's Fuel Flow Transmitters are known for high performance, reliability and accuracy, featuring an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 50,000 hours.
