Elbit Systems of America approved to provide 'green' anodize process to Sikorsky

Elbit Systems of America, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., announced that its recently acquired subsidiary, M7 Aerospace LP, has been approved to provide Boric Sulfuric Acid Anodize (MIL-A-8625 Type IC) (BSAA) processing to Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and its approved suppliers.

BSAA was developed as a more energy-efficient and environmentally sound alternative to Chromic Acid Anodizing (Type I and IB). BSAA provides excellent corrosion protection and paint adhesion on aluminum aircraft parts, and Sikorsky is leading the industry by ending the use of chrome-based anodizing. This environmentally-friendly process-transition will continue throughout 2011 with all of Sikorsky's suppliers in order to provide the most environmentally friendly and sustainable helicopter in the world.

Sikorsky has completed an audit of the specification for the new process at M7 Aerospace, has tested the BSAA process, and has granted M7 Aerospace approval to deliver parts for both Sikorsky and its approved suppliers that require this new process. M7 Aerospace has one of the largest BSAA lines in the region, measuring close to 35 feet in length.
