Enviro Systems selects Ametek Aerospace & Defense for bleed air cooler for Embraer Phenom 300 business jet

24/09/2007

Press releaseIssued by AMETEK Aerospace & Defense.

Enviro Systems, Inc. has selected AMETEK Hughes-Treitler to provide bleed air plate-fin heat exchanger for the Embraer Phenom 300 light business jet. The aluminum pre-cooler provides a lightweight and affordable alternative to stainless steel and is designed to operate at a bleed air inlet temperature of 500°F, while withstanding a 536 psig burst pressure requirement [at 509°F]. The aluminum heat exchanger cools engine bleed air for cabin pressurization, cabin temperature control and cabin anti-ice.

Hughes-Treitler is a recognized leader in heat exchangers and other subsystems designed for equipment cooling or in maintaining the environmental integrity in commercial and military aircraft.  The addition of the aluminum pre-cooler further broadens Hughes-Treitler's product offering for the business jet market that already includes fuel-tank-submerged hydraulic oil coolers and high-endurance inconel anti-icing heat exchangers as well as multiple high-pressure plate-fin aluminum oil coolers and surface coolers for business jet engine applications.

The Phenom 300 accommodates up to nine passengers and is powered by a pair of Pratt &Whitney Canada's PW535E engines with 3,200 pounds of thrust each.  It has a range of 1,800 nautical miles with six persons aboard and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.78.  Designed for short-field takeoff performance and an operating ceiling of 45,000 feet, the Phenom 300 is expected to enter service in mid-2009.

Enviro Systems, Inc., Seminole, OK, is an AS9100 and ISO9001(2000) certified manufacturer of aerospace vapor cycle air conditioning, digital bleed air controllers and environmental control systems for business, regional and military aircraft.

AMETEK Aerospace & Defense is a leading supplier of engine and aircraft monitoring systems, data acquisition units, fuel and fluid measurement systems, engine and airframe sensors, cables, harness assemblies, avionics blowers, fans, and heat transfer and cooling systems.  It is a unit of AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE: AME), a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annualized sales of more than $1.8 billion.
