GKN Aerospace has brought an additional building into operation at its manufacturing site in Chihuahua, Mexico, building on the momentum of its landmark July 2024 facility expansion. The enhanced site footprint further strengthens the integration of advanced global defence and commercial technologies within the region, reinforcing Chihuahua's position as a premier multi-technology aerospace hub.

The additional building will support the continued growth of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) activities at the site. The integration of these advanced electrical systems, alongside existing composite and metal structures expertise, allows GKN Aerospace to respond to growing demand across North America.

"This marks an important step in the continued development of our operations in Mexico," said Enrique Alatorre, SVP EWIS for GKN Aerospace. "By bringing this additional building into operation in Chihuahua and expanding our EWIS capabilities alongside our proven aerostructures production, we are positioned to offer integrated solutions directly to our North American customers. This investment highlights our confidence in Chihuahua's world-class workforce, competitive infrastructure, and strategic role in driving the future of sustainable flight."

The site development remains fully supported by the local government and builds on the more than 200 skilled engineering, specialised process, and production jobs associated with the 2024 expansion. The additional capacity will help optimise delivery timelines for core Tier-1 business and civil aviation programmes, including long-standing manufacturing partnerships with Gulfstream, Airbus, and Honda Aircraft.

Governor Maru Campos of the state of Chihuahua said:

"GKN Aerospace's continued growth reaffirms Chihuahua's position as a strategic partner for the global aerospace industry. The confidence that world-class companies place in our state reflects the talent of our workforce, our competitive business environment, and a government committed to supporting investment and innovation. We will continue working hand in hand with GKN Aerospace to create the conditions for long-term growth, high-value jobs, and the technologies that will shape the future of aviation."
