Heads Up Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic solutions for general aviation and commercial aircraft, has developed and qualified several high intensity LED exterior lights for the Cessna CJ family, including the landing lights. Originally developed for the CJ4, these lights are now available on production CJ1, CJ2 and CJ3 aircraft.
High brightness LEDs were used to replace traditional incandescent bulbs for the landing lights, wing inspection lights, tail flood lights, and overwing exit lights. These LEDs used approximately one-third of the electrical current, reduced size, weight, waste heat, and parts count, while improving light output performance.
"New developments in LED technology makes possible what seemed unreachable only a few years ago." said Rob Harshaw, President/CEO for Heads Up. "We believe we have developed and qualified the first LED landing light that is standard equipment on a production aircraft" he added.
The family of exterior lights will be on display at Heads Up's booth #4754 at the NBAA in Orlando, Fl.
