Liebherr is supplying the electromechanical rudder actuator for the Phenom 300EV manufactured by Embraer, a global aerospace leader. The new rudder actuator developed and manufactured by Liebherr-Aerospace will become standard on the Phenom 300EV. The aircraft received triple certification from ANAC, the FAA and EASA in 2026 and is scheduled to enter service in 2028. Liebherr thus expands its participation in another Embraer aircraft programme.
"This contract is a historic milestone and further strengthens our relationship with Embraer," said Dr. Klaus Schneider, Chief Technology Officer at Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS. "It signifies our commitment to excellence that we continuously demonstrate towards our customers. We have listened to Embraer's requirements for this rudder actuator since the early stages of development and have met their requirements in every step of the research and development phases. Our electric technology, specifically fly-by-wire actuators, improves the maintainability, reliability, and maneuverability of future aircraft."
The robust, lightweight actuator comes with a fully integrated, internally designed control and power control module. The development and production of the units will be performed by Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Lindenberg (Germany), Liebherr's centre of excellence for flight controls, actuation, gears, gearboxes and landing gears, in close cooperation with Liebherr-Elektronik GmbH, Lindau (Germany) as well as Liebherr's on-site team at Embraer's facilities in Brazil.
The relationship between Embraer and Liebherr goes back more than four decades, with Liebherr-Aerospace providing landing gears, air management systems and flight control systems for more than ten different Embraer programmes in the business, defence and civil aircraft markets.
"We have listened to Embraer's requirements for this rudder actuator since the early stages of development and have met their requirements in every step of the research and development phases. Our electric technology, specifically fly-by-wire actuators, improves the maintainability, reliability, and maneuverability of future aircraft."
