Meggitt wins COMAC C919 flight lock actuator contract

Meggitt PLC has won a prestigious contract from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, LTD (COMAC) to provide door safety systems for its C919 aircraft.

COMAC, acting through its subsidiary Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., LTD (SAMC) will receive market-leading electro-mechanical flight lock actuators that stop passenger, service and emergency doors from opening during flight.

Production will start at Meggitt's Simi Valley site in California in 2018. The C919 has already attracted more than 600 orders and options from 24 customers including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines etc.

Control Systems President Dennis Hutton commented "We're delighted to build on our successful and long-standing relationship with COMAC by expanding our content on their all-important C919. We're focused on delivering this contract to the exacting level we're recognised for and COMAC deserve."

Meggitt supports COMAC's C919 and ARJ21 programs through supplying a range of technologies for braking systems and sensing and control systems for both airframes and engines.
