New prospects of cooperation between Antonov and China

In July 2006, at the Inernational Air Show Farnborough-2006, representatives of ANTONOV ASTC conducted negotiations with delegations of China.

During a meeting with members of AVIC II (Aviation Industrial Corporation) delegation headed by Mr. Zhang Hongbiao, President, questions concerning interaction on the current and perspective joint projects were discussed. Mr. Zhang Hongbiao said: "AVIC II is ready to develop the long-term cooperation with ANTONOV". In particular, the parties agreed to continue their cooperation on the Y-8 programe.

Mr. Huang Qiang, Secretary General of the Commission of Science, Technology and Indusrtry for National Defense, who headed a delegation of Chinese aviation industry leaders, highly appreciated prospects on cooperation with ANTONOV. At the ANTONOV's stand, the delegation members became familiar with scientific and technical potential of the enterprise, modern and advanced ANTONOV programs. The most attention was paid to the military transports including Antonov-70 military STOL aircraft, Antonov-124-100 Ruslan superheavy transport and its new versions.
