Phyre Technologies receives GOBIGGS(TM) patent

14/04/2010

Press releaseIssued by Parker Aerospace Fluid Systems.

Phyre Technologies, Inc. announced today it has received a United States patent (7,694,916) for its "Green On-Board Inert Gas Generating System" - GOBIGGS(TM) fuel tank inerting system. GOBIGGS(TM) is the first closed-loop, environmentally friendly inerting system for use in aircraft, ships and land based storage units. GOBIGGS(TM) was developed in part to address flammability of aircraft fuel tanks and newly mandated FAA rules; in response to the fuel tank explosion and tragic loss of TWA Flight 800 on July 17th, 1996.

Inerting systems reduce the risk of fuel tank explosions by altering the chemical composition of gas vapors in fuel tanks. The GOBIGGS(TM) system is the only 'closed-loop' inerting system, and is the only system that achieves inerting without exhausting uncombusted fuel vapors into the atmosphere.
