Resource Engineering Projects win defence contract

Resource Engineering Projects (REP) has recently entered into an agreement with a large European military-engine developer. The agreement will see REP performing verification activities on the TP400-D6 engine, designed for the Airbus A400M aircraft, including code reviews, static analysis, control and data flow analysis and module testing.

The agreement was signed in July 2009 and will mean that REP will have 30 software engineers working for MTU Aero Engines on the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and Engine/propeller Protection and Monitoring Unit (EPMU) of the TP400-D6 engine for a three month period, in the current critical phase to achieve Stage of Involvement 3 and to successfully have the engine software certified for use.

The TP400-D6 engine has been selected to power the Airbus A400M, the future military transport aircraft for France, England, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Turkey and Luxembourg. A turboprop-engine with 11,000shp at take off, the TP400-D6 has considerably higher Shaft Horsepower than any other turboprop-engine designed in the Western hemisphere.

This project paves the way to what will hopefully be a long-term relationship between REP and MTU Aero Engines.
