Indra and Gaerum have selected S-PLANE Automation as the Automation, Simulation, Ground Control and Communication solutions provider for the TARGUS Optionally Piloted Vehicle (OPV) programme.
The TARGUS OPV is based on the MRI version of the Tecnam P2006T aircraft, fitted with a Seaspray 5000E radar, a high resolution EO/IR payload and maritime AIS. This advanced programme forms part Civil UAVs Initiative investment by the regional government (Xunta) of Galicia in Spain and private financiers. The activity is taking place at the Centre of Airborne Research (CIAR) established by the regional government and the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA) in Lugo, Spain. Public services are among the first civilian applications that will benefit from the TARGUS OPV, including Coastguard activities (such as protection of fishing grounds and interdiction of dumping at sea) and fire risk assessment, detection and fighting.
