Tecnam positions MOSAIK59 range for latest regs

The MOSAIC framework removes historic Light Sport weight caps and expands Sport Pilot privileges to include four-seat and twin-engine aircraft operations.

Tecnam Aircraft has unveiled its MOSAIK59 family in response to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Modernisation of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) regulations.

The new framework replaces the previous 1,320 lb Light Sport Aircraft weight cap with performance-based criteria, including a 59-knot clean stall speed, and allows four-seat aircraft, retractable landing gear, constant-speed propellers and multi-engine configurations under Sport Pilot privileges.

MOSAIK59 combines modular design principles with compliance to the 59-knot stall threshold. The portfolio spans the P92 Echo MKII as an entry platform, the P2008 Next Generation with higher maximum takeoff weight options, the relaunched Astore GT, the four-seat P2010 adapted to meet the stall requirement and the twin-engine P2006T NG configured for Part 22 compliance.

Expanded Sport Pilot privileges take effect in October 2025, with new Part 22 registrations from July 2026. Tecnam says the range enables flight schools to offer streamlined training from primary instruction through to complex and multi-engine operations within a single fleet structure.
