Press releaseIssued by AVIC SAC Commercial Aircraft Company Ltd.

On March 11, COMAC solemnly held the launch meeting of the Joint Definition Phase (JDP) of the CR929 project fuselage and tail structure. At the meeting, He Dongfeng, Chairman of COMAC, issued a supplier selection letter to Deng Yudong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of COMAC, and the company officially became the supplier of the CR929 project vertical work package.

CR929 long-range wide-body passenger aircraft is a major strategic cooperation project under the in-depth development of the Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The enterprises of the two countries carry out pragmatic cooperation in the high-tech field. The CR929-600 has a range of 12,000 kilometres, a 280-seat class, and an upgraded model, up to 350 seats. The basic type is named CR929-600, and there are shortened and extended types, respectively named CR929-500 and CR929-700. CR929 long-range wide-body passenger aircraft improves the overall performance of the aircraft by adopting advanced aerodynamic design, extensive application of composite materials, and assembly of a new generation of turbofan engines with large bypass ratios. The vertical tail of the aircraft adopts a full-composite layout, and the vertical tail includes a vertical stabiliser and a rudder.

As a backbone enterprise of civil aircraft manufacturing under the aviation industry, the company's participation in the CR929 project this time reflects the company's honour and responsibility for participating in major national civil aircraft projects. The CR929 long-range wide-body passenger aircraft plans to produce 1,000 aircraft and successfully won the CR929 project. The tail work package signifies that the company has realised the coverage of the full range of models from ARJ21 regional aircraft, C919 single-aisle trunk aircraft, to CR929 wide-body dual-aisle aircraft on the COMAC project. The new leap based on materials will enhance the company's scientific research capabilities and will further promote the development of the Shenyang area in the field of aviation manufacturing.
