UTC Aerospace Systems and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) have signed a letter of intent whereby UTC Aerospace Systems will supply the Passenger Door Damper & Emergency Opening Actuation System (EPAS) for the new C919 jetliner. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
"We are delighted to be selected by COMAC for additional content on the C919," said Michel Ferey, President and General Manager for Propeller Systems at UTC Aerospace Systems. "The C919 will benefit from the latest technology on (EPAS), which increases reliability while ensuring a high level of performance at a lower weight."
COMAC previously selected UTC Aerospace Systems to provide cockpit control systems, fire and overheat protection systems, throttle control quadrant, and lighting and sensing equipment for the narrow-body C919.
In addition, AVIC Electromechanical Company Limited (AVIC EM) and UTC Aerospace Systems have formed a joint venture company to develop and manufacture the electric power system for the C919. AVIC EM is a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).
