Blackshape debuts Prime Xplorer and updates Gabriel and Prime aircraft at Friedrichshafen

17/04/2025

Niccolò Chierroni confirmed Blackshape US would follow discussions with a new distributor and customer feedback on recent product developments.

Blackshape, part of Angel Holding, made its first appearance at Aero Friedrichshafen by launching the Prime Xplorer, a sport aircraft targeting aviation enthusiasts.

The taildragger design combines safety, build quality and a strong sense of flight. Its aerodynamic features are designed for control and efficiency, while its engines aim to deliver smooth performance.

“We are proud to present the Prime Xplorer at AERO 2025,” says Blackshape CEO Niccolò Chierroni. “The aircraft was developed in response to feedback received over recent months from our American customers.”

Chierroni adds: “Through discussions with a new distributor in the US, we identified a significant market opportunity. The upcoming launch of Blackshape US is a testament to the outstanding work of our team in recent months.”

He continued: “Our goal is to innovate and expand our product line, as demonstrated by the introduction of the Gabriel and Prime engines, which meet the demands of the international market while showcasing our company’s manufacturing excellence and the elegance of Italian design.”

Two product updates also featured at the show. The Gabriél is now equipped with a Rotax 916 engine, designed for flight schools using automotive fuel at high altitudes. Additionally, the Prime has been fitted with a DULV-certified Rotax 915.
