VerdeGo advances hybrid-electric propulsion with VH-4T-RD production launch

Initial deliveries of the 400kW-class system are planned for 2026, with testing and leasing activity already underway for early adopters.

VerdeGo Aero has started low-rate production of its 400kW-class VH-4T-RD hybrid-electric powerplant. The VH-4T-RD is intended for developmental non-certified use, including ground and flight testing. It will serve as a stepping stone toward the certified VH-4T-415 production variant, which is scheduled for 2027 availability.

The VH-4T-RD has undergone hundreds of hours of ground testing, including 150 hours of durability testing for the US Air Force using FAA Part 33 standards. Testing was completed in VerdeGo’s Hybrid Systems Integration Lab (HSIL), where it followed a simulated eVTOL flight profile and high-frequency turbulence model. Fault-case testing also validated performance under off-nominal conditions.

VerdeGo has begun leasing VH-4T-RD units and expects first deliveries in 2026. Customers can work directly with the Daytona Beach-based engineering team for testing and integration at HSIL. The current lead time for orders is nine to twelve months.

The VH-4T-415 will build on the VH-4T-RD’s foundation with increased redundancy and power output. VerdeGo has submitted a Type Certificate application to the FAA and is pursuing military and Part 33 certification for the -415 configuration. The company’s development strategy is to give customers early hands-on experience through the -RD while preparing for certified use of the -415.
