Super-midsize G300 completes first flight

First flight lasted over two hours at 30,000 feet and followed 2,000 hours of ground testing and two test aircraft already in production.

The Gulfstream G300 has completed its first flight, launching a formal flight test programme for the super-midsize aircraft. The flight took place from Ben Gurion International Airport at 8:05 a.m. local time and lasted 2 hours and 25 minutes, reaching Mach 0.75 and an altitude of 30,000 feet.

Gulfstream introduced the G300 on 30 September in Savannah as the latest addition to its fleet. “With its combination of safety, technology, performance and cabin comfort, the G300 is a game changer for the super-midsize category,” says Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “This latest investment, designed to exceed our customers’ expectations for large-cabin features in a mid-cabin aircraft, brings another new category leader to our next-generation fleet.”

The G300 cabin seats up to 10 passengers across two living areas and features a full galley, ample baggage space and 10 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows. It also offers 100% fresh air, whisper-quiet sound levels and the lowest cabin altitude in its class at 4,800 feet when cruising at 41,000 feet.

Range is 3,600 nautical miles at Mach 0.80 or 3,000 nm at Mach 0.84. The aircraft’s clean, swept Gulfstream wing and Honeywell HTF7250G engines contribute to strong fuel-efficiency.

The Harmony Flight Deck includes six touch screens, Phase-of-Flight intelligence, Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display and the Predictive Landing Performance System. Prior to the flight, the programme logged over 2,000 hours of ground testing. Two more test aircraft are already in production.
