Exel Composites to provide structure for world's largest airship

The frame of this airship, one of the largest ever developed, must distribute the structure’s entire load. Flying Whales is to develop thin wall carbon fibre tubes that meet all technical requirements and specs.

Flying Whales brings Honeywell generator onboard

Aboard the LCA60T, the generator will create a hybrid propulsion system by being integrated with a gearbox and a turbine that uses jet fuel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Airship maker opts for PT6C-based generators

In order to provide the 4 MW of electrical power required for operations, the airship will incorporate a total of four 1 MW turbogenerators in the nacelles located in the side fins of the aircraft.

Flying Whales inks deal with Safran for electrical systems

Safran will provide all of the electrical systems for powering the equipment and managing the non-propulsive electrical networks of the Flying Whales LCA60T airships.
