PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Astronics Corporation
Astronics Corporation, a leading provider of advanced technologies for global aerospace and defense industries, today announced the launch of the EmPower 1327-27 Dual USB-Type-C In-Seat Power Outlet, delivering industry-leading charging capability to meet the growing demands of modern air travelers.
Engineered to support the latest portable electronic devices (PEDs), the 1327-27 provides up to 60 watts (60W) of combined power across two USB-Type - C ports. Passengers can now simultaneously and efficiently charge their high-power devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other PEDs during flight.
The 1327-27 is designed for seamless integration into next-generation aircraft cabins and supports multiple installation applications, including passenger seats, galleys, flight decks, and crew rest areas. With industry-leading advanced intelligent power management, the unit adjusts its output to deliver the full 60W to a single port if only one device is in use or intelligently distributes power between both ports when two devices are charging.
Jon Neal, President of Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems, stated, “As passenger demand for high-power, device-ready solutions continues to rise, airlines are looking for versatile power solutions that enhance the onboard experience while seamlessly blending into the cabin environment. The Dual USB Type-C outlet delivers on both fronts, reflecting Astronics' commitment to innovation, reliability, and fulfilling the needs of both passengers and airlines.”
Additional Features of the EmPower 1327-27 Include:
- Streamlined Seat Integration: The EmPower 1327-27 features a form factor identical to previous outlet designs, providing compatibility with existing seat cutouts and simplifying installation processes.
- A soft blue LED backlight for easy identification and usability in low-light environments.
- Customizable faceplate color options to complement cabin interiors.
- Robust construction designed to withstand the rigorous demands of commercial aviation, maximizing reliability and durability.
- Compliance with major aircraft OEM line-fit requirements for smooth certification and integration processes.
The EmPower 1327-27 is compact, lightweight, and fully compliant with FAA/EASA certification standards. Its flexible design and intuitive functionality empower airlines, seat manufacturers, and other stakeholders to deliver an unparalleled level of comfort and convenience to passengers during their journey.
