PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: LaVision GmbH
LaVision's StrainMaster is a non-contact measurement system for deformation analysis. Standard and stereoscopic imaging techniques make 2D and 3D analysis of deformation processes on almost any material fast and easy.
Through the easy-to-use processing interface the user is able to display intuitive deformation grids or vectors, and via simple batch processing menus a variety of derived data (eg. Strain) can be calculated. It is therefore possible to output visual information on material defects or fatigue fractures, and the flexible display modes allow data to be overlayed on the subject image for further clarity.
The StrainMaster system is available with state-of-the-art CCD or CMOS cameras, featuring frame-rates of up to 1 million images/second. The cameras can be equipped with a variety of standard or specialised lenses allowing the user to perform dynamic inspections of areas ranging from a few mm2 to several m2 at the highest optical resolution. Furthermore it is possible to perform detailed analysis on scanning electron microscope images.
Advanced correlation algorithms lead to a quick and reliable calculation of all vital deformation-parameters, and time-consuming preparation of the sample is not necessary.
The PointTracker system from LaVision records and evaluates position, movement and deformation of rapid moving, three-dimensional objects, such as rotating aircraft models in a wind tunnel. Accurate measurement of subject position and deformation is achieved by tracking and recording distances between discrete target markers on the object. The software transforms the recorded images of the markers into well-defined object positions in a user selectable coordinate system.
