LaBarge, Inc. (NYSE Amex: LB) has received a contract from Moog, Inc. to manufacture printed circuit card assemblies for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter). Follow-on orders are expected. Financial terms were not disclosed. Moog is leading the industry team in the development and integration of the Primary Flight Control and Leading Edge Flap Actuation Systems for the Joint Strike Fighter Program.
"We look forward to developing our new customer relationship with Moog and are proud to have been selected as a key supplier on the F-35 program," said Craig LaBarge, chief executive officer and president. "Our expanded state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing capabilities make us a highly capable choice to produce the high-performance printed circuit card assemblies our customer requires for this demanding application."
Production on the contract is expected to begin March 2011 and continue through February 2012 at LaBarge's Tulsa, Okla., facility.
The F-35 is a next generation strike aircraft weapon system designed to service fighter aircraft needs in air-to-surface and air-to-air combat missions for the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Marines, and U.S. allies. The 5th generation F-35 Lightning II integrates advanced stealth technology into a highly agile, supersonic aircraft designed to provide the pilot with unprecedented situational awareness and unmatched lethality and survivability. The F-35 variants are undergoing flight and systems tests with a year-end goal of 394 flights.
