Goodrich selected to supply additional products for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ)
Monday, 13 December 2010

Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has signed an agreement with Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation to supply air data sensors, ice detectors and windshield heat controllers for the new Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft family. Goodrich will deliver the first flight-test hardware in mid- 2011.

The Goodrich flight-critical air data sensors selected for the MRJ are a part of Goodrich's core capabilities used extensively across commercial and military aircraft applications. The complement of sensors includes aerodynamically-compensated pitot-static probes, digital angle of attack sensors and total air temperature sensors.

The ice detectors advise flight crews of ice build-up for activation of the aircraft's ice protection system. The internally-mounted windshield heat controllers ensure the windshield remains free of condensation and ice. The controllers help conserve power by regulating and distributing only the level of power required.

"In providing these advanced systems, Goodrich is bringing optimized solutions that contribute to the performance and operational economy of Mitsubishi's next-generation regional aircraft," said Chris Cojocar, Business Development Director, Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems. "This selection strengthens Goodrich's role as one of the leading providers of air data and ice detection systems to the industry worldwide."

Goodrich was earlier selected to provide integrated braking systems, lighting systems and evacuation systems for the MRJ. The company is also providing the engine nacelles for the Pratt&Whitney PurePower(R) PW1000G engine.

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) is a family of 70- to 90-seat next-generation regional jets being developed by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (MJET). By featuring state-of-the-art aerodynamic design, noise analysis technologies and a game-changing engine, the MRJ will significantly cut fuel consumption, noise, and emissions.
