Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has been adding 200 new production workers in Quebec and is establishing a new helicopter engine assembly line at its Saint-Hubert, Quebec, facility to meet growing demand for its engines. P&WC is a United Technologies (NYSE:UTX) company.
"We continue to ramp up production as we grow in all our market segments, including business and regional aircraft, and helicopters," said Benoit Brossoit, Senior Vice President, Service Centres and Operations, P&WC.
Since June 2007, about 200 new production workers have been hired to increase manufacturing capacity. To boost recruitment efforts, the company organized last August a Job Fair at its plant in Longueuil.
"The Job Fair was a huge success and helped us fill much-needed production positions, including machinists, bench mechanics, engine assemblers, sheet metal workers and operations inspectors," said Brossoit. "We built up a bank of qualified candidates and will be calling on some of them to fill another 30-50 positions in the near future."
P&WC is opening a new assembly line in Saint- Hubert for PT6T Twin-Pac(TM) helicopter engines. The Saint-Hubert facility will also continue to operate as a major overhaul and repair facility.
P&WC currently has about 5,800 employees at its Quebec facilities, and more than 7,300 employees in Canada.
