Holt IC completes validation of its latest ARINC line drivers and receivers, HI-8570 and HI-8591, to DO-160-E, Level 3, Waveform 5B
Friday, 25 January 2008

Holt Integrated Circuits, a world leader in data bus IC's for the avionics and military industries, today announced validation of it's latest ARINC line drivers and receivers to DO-160-E, level 3, waveform 5B.

"The industry trend to move from aluminum to composite air frames has imposed greater ruggedness requirements on components", said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. "Validating that existing products meet DO-160-E, level 3, waveform 5B provides customers with the assurance of lightning strike survivability".

Holt recommends the use of HI-8591 receiver family and HI-8570 line driver family for use in new ARINC 429 designs. Previously announced in November 2004 (see HI-8591 press release), the HI-8591 is a 3.3V ARINC line receiver with exceptional input common mode performance in excess of +/-30V, making it an ideal choice in applications where local grounding is subject to noise. The HI-8591-40 variant is available for easy addition of external lightening circuitry. The HI-8570 is an ARINC line driver previously announced in May 2006 (see HI-8570 press release). This part is capable of operating solely from a +/-5V supply, significantly reducing power consumption, with the HI-8571 providing the option to bypass the 37.5 Ohm integrated resistance in the case of using external lightning protection circuitry.
